Hello, everyone. I have always enjoyed practicing the piano and out of admiration for those musicians in the romantic era, who could compose and perform at the same time, I also tried to teach myself how to compose music pieces ranging from classical to pop. I really adore classical music but to catch up with the trend nowadays, I think I should also learn some ways to compose pop music as well. The question is I uploaded some of my work on online music platforms and have a total of about 5000 streams(I spent the majority of my time on the piano so less time for learning how to compose). I am now wondering, will 5000 streams be too less to mention in my college application? Thanks for your attention!
Hi @Jai123456! 5000 streams is a BIG deal. I would totally include that in your college applications. And as @Prevz mentioned, make sure you highlight all of the characteristics of your journey on the piano.
In my opinion, I think Admissions counselors are not crazy about the quantity but the quality of your work. If you devoted hours to perform such activity and you pulled that number (5,000) streams, I think it is noteworthy to mention. I would suggest highlighting your dedication to the activity while listing the number of streams and maybe, your ability to compose despite challenging situations. AOC's may want to see the sweat behind gaining those numbers of streams.
Hope this helps.
