I’m currently a sophomore in high school. My dream school is Harvard. What are some things I can do academically (courses, exams) and in terms of extracurriculars?
Getting into Harvard, let alone any Ivy League is a gamble, no matter how accomplished one is. You must first realize that.
I would first recommend you to not aim for a school but to aim to make a significant impact in your interest. I was like you in Freshman year, and I'm a sophomore currently, and I was constantly thinking "What can I do to get into Princeton?". I would encourage you to instead think "What can I do that will make myself and the world better?"
When I started answering the latter question, I accomplished so much more. Although I'd like to get into an Ivy League, in my Sophomore year, I fed thousands of people in my home country, I was the chief strategic director at a national nonprofit, and I was the Chief Innovations officer at an international nonprofit.
I did these accomplishments not because of Harvard or Princeton or Yale or Stanford, but more so because I wanted to help the world more. I want to major in a pre-law/politics-related major, and when I do, colleges will see the authenticity of my application rather than the typical "Please Accept ME" type application.
