I am a visual art student who is planning to go to visual arts school( university, as a dual-degree). My extracurriculars are mainly focused on visual arts(art commissioner, created an art tutor volunteer), and violin(1st violin, not all-state). I created a cheer manager position in my school, which has not been a cheer manager for 34 years although there was a cheerleading team for almost right after the school created. I will write about how I made my self-esteem better by making a cheer manager position. (I will write about how I used to get bullied because of my weight-people called me a "pig"-and came to America, seeing cheerleading, and make my position as a cheer manager) Does this look good? MAIN FOCUS: ART, side: cheer manager and 1st violin in a local orchestra.
It is nice to show you are not one-sided, that you do have a life outside of the arts. Not only that, but managing a team shows leadership, something incredibly valuable in college admissions.
So is it superb no is it good/great yes as it showcases leadership initiative and other leadership traits. But as art schools as general are fairly competitive it is better as it involves cheer but it isn’t amazing.
Also I commend you on the getting over the bullying I am cautious of you writing about being a “pig” it will go over great (the AO sympathizes) or it falls flat with very little in between. (Adequate or phenomenal) as such I’d recommend to mention it in passing and merely focus on your success not being dragged down. It can talk about losing weight building self esteem but I’d generally stay away from using the word “pig”
Hope this helps and comment if you need clarification.
