Submit SAT score if just under school's range
Answered

Should I submit my test score if it is just under the school's 25th percentile? The school is test optional and I could apply without the score.

IMHO, you probably should not, especially if it's test optional. But it depends, is your GPA within or exceeding the range of the College? If it is not, they'll force you to send them your test scores. But if yes, then they probably won't ask you for them.

But there's a handy tool that CollegeVine gives you. It's called Chancing. See your chances if you apply test optional and also see your chances if you give your test score. If the chances of the former is higher than the latter, don't give your test score. If they're about the same, IMHO just be safe and don't send them your test scores. But if the latter is greater than the former, then you have a choice if you want to or not.

But once again, whether you do it or not is your choice, but make sure to ask the experts before making any decisions.

In my personal opinion, you should. If it is just under the range then obviously it is acceptable. The range is an average area of where the students are admitted to the college and anyone could have a score higher or lower and still get admitted. Test optional can hurt your admissions chances in some cases such as if your GPA is really lacking and your SAT score carries it, in that case, you should send in your score. If your GPA is extremely impressive and your SAT score isn't really then you may go ahead and apply test optional.
