I’ve heard a lot of stuff about how piano is not a good extracurricular to put in a college application, but I’ve been playing for nine years. I practice about an hour a day. I have participated in a program put on by the Michigan Music Teachers Association called “student achievement testing day” and have passed ten levels out of twelve, each time with a score between 94-99 out of 100. I have also participated in a National federation of music clubs junior festival five years in a row and have gotten the highest possible rating each year.
Just curious to know where you heard about Piano not being a good Ec to put on the College App?And why you think so?
Hi @Hannah9999,
I think piano is a very unique activity. Since you have been practicing it for nine years, it demonstrates your strong interest in it and reveals your side of soft skills like determination, hard work, and motivation.
You have passed ten levels out of twelve, each time with a score between 94-99 out of 100, which is a big achievement and shows that you are not only doing this activity but also excelling in it.
It'll give a new direction to your application and you should definitely put it in the application.
My best wishes for you applications,
Regards
Hey there @Hannah9999!
I think you should definitely put this on your application! You are clearly very dedicated to piano and are a good player. And not only do you play recreationally-- you also have test scores and accomplishments to show for it.
