How to categorize this activity on the common app?
Answered

I've participated in an engineering camp- my first instinct is to categorize it as Science/Math, but it also involved some computer/technology. Can I go with Science/Math, or should I categorize them as Other?

I think it depends on what you want to study. If you think that your camp had the equivalent amount of Science/Math as it did Computer/Technology then its up to you. Opt for the one that looks better for the major you are applying for.

Well first of all, the category of the activites dont matter that much as long as they are generally accurate. Colleges don't care whether you list it as science/math vs computer/technology. That being said, you didnt provide enough details about the activity so its hard to decide. But both categories would work. If it was more heavily intensive on programming and using technology in engineering, then go with the computer/tech category. If it was more math and physics based and learning about the fundamentals of engineering, then go with the science and math option. And a final note is that yhe category doesn't matter as much as the description. In the description of the activity, describe what you did so college really understand the activity.
