Do I have to have extracurrciculars?

Hey, I have absolutely no extracurriculars. Is there anyone who has gotten into schools without them. I want to be an engineering major (currently unclassified). I know the general rule of thumb is to have extracurriculars, but I just don't have time. I work two jobs.

Hi! Though it may not seem like it at first glance, your jobs most definitely count as extracurriculars! Essentially anything that you dedicate time to outside of school can count for this. Colleges like to see that you’re engaging in your community outside of academics, and the ability to maintain and succeed in not one, but multiple jobs, as well as school work is a good showing. Though it is incredibly helpful to your application to participate in extracurriculars relevant to your major, if you have to work a job instead (due to financial/family reasons), communicate this through your application and they likely will not hold this against you.

Extracurriculars can be anything you’re not forced to do for school. Do you have any hobbies? And hey! you still have time to join/start something up. You said you like engineering, perhaps do something in relation to that. Summer would also be a great time to pick something up. You got this!
