Early decision does involve applying a year early, normally junior year (fall, I think). If a student is accepted through early decision, they are expected to commit to attending that college and must withdraw their applications to other schools. This option is beneficial for students who have a clear first-choice college in mind.

The deadlines for early decision applications typically fall around November 1st or November 15th (junior year), but specific deadlines may vary depending on the college. It's important to check the exact date for each institution you're considering. Early decision applicants usually receive their admission decisions in mid-December.

Hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions!
