Hi there! I'm a senior currently fully invested in the college application process, and I was wondering if anyone else has been unable to take the SAT/ have no score because of test centers being closed? For context I live in California, and I was about to take the SAT on March 14th (which was right about when the test centers started closing due to COVID). I had practiced a lot and was feeling pretty good about it: cue the news about the test center being closed.
Flash forward to now, all of the tests I've signed up for have been cancelled, and I'm worried that the September and October tests will be cancelled as well. I have no SAT score right now, and I'm just worried how this might impact my application for schools like Stanford or Yale? Should I mention on my app that I haven't been able to take any tests, or should I just wait it out and hope that they reopen testing sites later on? Hopefully I'm not the only one experiencing this right now :(
Hi, I've experienced similar cancellations as well. I think it's 3 or 4 not sure. My advice is to hope for the best and that the 9/26 and 10/3 test date hold. If they do not you can still take the 11/7 and worst case the 12/5 which will return a result by 12/18 and still get to the colleges 1/2/21 which means you will have to pre-select which colleges get your score before when you take the Dec. test but that's not the end of the world.
With 4 test dates left, you can easily take the SAT 1 or 2 times. Shoot for 2 times so you have the ability to superscore to a higher composite. So if you get 1450 (700/750) and you get a 1480 (760/720) the 2nd time you will get a 1510 superscore.
Chin up and good luck in this FALL with your SAT.
Don't worry so much, instead GRIND the practice tests and the sections you are making mistakes at. BE Overprepared because practice tests don't always work out in the Real cover your face with a masked environment. Take practice tests with a mask and if your goal is 1500, try to get the 1550s on your practice test because most people are disappointed with their actual scores.
