IELTS Score recommendation
Answered

Hi everyone, I scored 7.5 overall on the IELTS, but my writing score is only 5.5. Do universities in the U.S. consider a high overall score to compensate for a lower writing score, or should I be concerned?

As far as I'm concerned, each university sets its unique requirements for the English Proficiency Tests (aka IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo Test, etc). The majority of US universities I have searched want you to have an overall 6.5 with no band under 6. Nevertheless, I highly recommend you search the IELTS requirements for each university that you want to apply. In this way, you will know whether you should retake IELTS or not.
