How can an 8th grader start looking into colleges?
Answered

I know someone who’s in eighth grade and is extremely smart for her age and has high academic scores.

She wants to start looking into colleges or start increasing her chances for applications?

Yes!! I always had so many questions when I was in 8th grade but I never did my research. Please start now. Look into majors, schools, financial aid, scholarships for your age. Ask your teachers or go to youtube. When your in your summer of 10th start actually thinking about essay prompts, SAT, ACT, Honors or AP. Don't stress out but take it easy at first but it's good to start early. Find schools that align with your interest, hobbies, passion, curricular.

I think it's great to start looking into college at a young age! If it were me I would start by figuring out what my interests are. Because this student is starting in 8th grade, she can try a lot of different things. She should try to narrow down what she would like to study or what career she would enjoy. She can also look into the classes and clubs that her high school offers. If she joins clubs that align with her interests in 9th grade and builds on them through high school, this will show continuity in her application and a passion for the field she wants to go into.
