Is having a low-ish GPA okay for UCLA?
Answered

Hi there,

So I've always dreamed about getting in to UCLA, but I've heard that they place GPA as a top priority.

I have a 4.5 weighted which is pretty good, but I have a 3.7 unweighted, which is below the average. I'm scared and also sad that this will ruin my chances.

Is it true that UC schools are actually holistic? Even if I have a lacking GPA, will my course rigors and extracurriculars make up for a lower(ish) GPA?

The great thing about college admissions in the U.S. is that it is so holistic, especially when compared to other countries. Of course a better GPA would help but there's no sense in worrying about how it'll harm you, in stead it's important you make the rest of your application shine as brightly as possible
