If I currently have a 3.6 unweighted GPA, is it realistic to raise it to a 3.9 before early admissions? I'm really stressed because I'm not used to being less than an A-B student, but I completely flunked math in my junior year, which dropped my GPA from a 3.9 to a 3.6.
Hi, so unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to raise your GPA before EA, but that doesn't mean all hope is lost! If you're worried about academics, there should be an additional info section in the application where you can explain why your GPA saw a dip junior year (e.g. if some personal obstacles, a job, or family emergency caused issues with schoolwork), but I'd say if you have a decent academic profile, just make sure it's clear that you've challenged yourself given the rigor of your school, and that through your essays that you will be a useful asset to the school not just in getting high test scores (most people applying to top colleges already have good grades, so you should make sure you stand out as a person who'll contribute greatly). Also, if you get into the college or get deferred, the college will get another chance to see how you've improved (given that you've been putting your all into bumping up that grade). Hope this helped!
