Admissions Advice

Cornell Legacy Applicant
Answered

I'm an aspiring college student, and I wanted to clarify some of my legacy knowledge. I only previously thought of legacy as some booster that would almost automatically get you into T20 colleges. Still, I've read some threads on reddit and they said legacy only matters when your parents are a big donor. I really care about this topic because I am applying ED to Cornell as a legacy applicant(as my mom graduated from Cornell), and this is probably my only chance in getting into a T10 school. I have a high GPA and SAT, along with good EC's with a pretty decent essay. Would legacy help my chances of getting in drastically(Although there is no guarantee)?

Simply put, Yes, it will drastically help your chances into Cornell since you are legacy. (But still keep working on your GPA, SAT, ECs, and more!)
