I'm an international student (I don't school in the U.S) and I've been trying to think of a solution to this question through a series of videos, books and websites. At my high school, I'm a junior (grade 11), it's a catholic school for starters and quite small, meaning there aren't any clubs or AP classes. I'm taking the hardest classes they offer which is Pre-calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics with 4 years of a foreign language. Every day, I come across college tip videos that talk about the rigid courseloads people have taken in their highschool years. I'm worried that my straight As aren't going to be enough to please my desired shool. I have done some competitions outside of school as well as extra-curriculars that are deened Ivy-league approved. But is it enough?
To be honest, applying to US top schools can be unpredictable, its hard to know what's enough.
•Consider launching a passion project or initiative. Since your school lacks clubs, you can take the initiative to start one thats based on you area of interest!
•Create strong relationships with your teachers by actively participating in lessons, seeking feedback, and showing enthusiasm for learning. This will lead to stronger recommendation letters.
•You can also do internships, volunteering, or online courses related to your desired major (if you haven't already).
These steps can increase your chances of getting noticed by admission committees.
Hope this helps
