Answered

does anyone have any ideas on how long your essays are supposed to be? how long is too long and how short is too short? i dont want to bore the admissions people but i also dont want to exclude important details because im worried the essay might be too long.

hi!!!

Generally you should be no more than 20 words away from the limit at a max. For example, the Common App gives you 650 words because that's how many they expect. Other schools, like MIT, say "approximately 200 words" which means exactly that (even though they give 225). Because these essays are so short, you need to maximize all the oppertunities you can. So if it says 100,150, 300 or 650, aim for that!

good luck <3
