I’m applying for both early and regular decision this year, but I’m feeling a bit concerned about my application. I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA and a 4.0 weighted GPA, which are pretty average. My junior year was especially tough due to a difficult math teacher, and it really impacted my grades. On the plus side, I have around seven strong extracurriculars, including being the captain of the fencing team and being on varsity all four years. However, I’m worried because my GPA dropped significantly, and I don’t have many awards aside from some sports titles like Rookie of the Year and a few competition wins. I’ve heard that awards are really important, and I’m starting to wonder if I should focus on applying to safety schools like community colleges and locals because I’m feeling pretty uncertain about my chances. Is it bad if I apply with no awards?
well, i think your GPA is quite strong and i kind of have the reverse story to yours, i have awards but not as a strong GPA compared to yours but i'm not letting it get the better of me, so i say go for every school you like and know that it's better than regretting not to have applied there!
