MITES, RSI, and MIT

Hello, I’m a Chinese American, first-generation junior from a small school in Kentucky with around 660 students. I’m currently at the top or around the top in my class(of 150-200), and my extracurriculars are:

Academic Team- Competed in the statewide KAAC tournament with the Quick Recall team as a starter and placed 5th with three other schools, and have been doing this since 6th grade. One of the captains of the QR team

Science Olympiad- Competed and won in regionals as a whole in the school, placed 4th in Astronomy and 3rd in Fermi Questions in-state first year, and placed 2nd in Experimental Design sophomore year. I also was the astronomy coach in my sophomore year.

Quiz bowl- I competed in many tournaments on a team around the nation and in the Small School National Tournament in both my first and second years. My first year, I competed in the A-team, and the team got 8th place. I competed in the B-team my sophomore year and placed 1st in rising star overall in the tournament by scoring the most out of all first- and second-year students. One of the captains of the Quiz bowl team

STLP- Designed a website that promoted reading skills and information gathering among students of the school for the project, which was able to make it into the state

Band: I played the flute in both concert and marching bands during my first year, and the marching band show reached state during that year.

Works at my parents’ restaurant since I was 6, which included hosting and serving customers, making sushi, helping in the kitchen, being a manager, and being a busboy

Awarded the National First-Generation Recognition Program by Collegeboard

Has over 100 hours of volunteering, which includes an arts center, a dog shelter, Environment club, tutoring, and others

4.0 GPA unweighted, and a 4.13 GPA(due to not being able to take many APs my freshman and sophomore years, as my school didn’t allow me to do so) excluding this year

Took a College Physics course offered by a local college

Took AP Psychology and got a 4

Is taking AP Calc AB, AP Gov, APUSH, APES, AP Lang, and AP Chem, with a special topics class for the academic team, which doesn’t count as a credit or class

33 on the ACT, but is retaking it aiming for a 35, and 1350 on the PSAT my sophomore year but is retaking it this year

I am currently working on an engineering project that utilizes a moving telescope that can be controlled on a website to promote engineering and astronomy locally and statewide, as well as an ACT peer tutoring club/class for students who wish to make their scores higher

What are my chances of getting into these summer programs, and what can I improve to try to get into MIT?

Thank you!
