ECs and admission process question
Answered

I’m a junior in hs and I have always been aiming for T20 schools. However, recently I realized so many applicants to these schools have state/national awards, ultra-competitive internships, published a book, did independent research or research with a prestigious university, etc. I don’t know how people get involved in these things and if they’re necessary for admission; by application season I will have done 3 (noncompetitive) internships, started a few school clubs related to my major and an organizer for a club outside of school, I started a (very) small business, and have served 300+ volunteer hours. Otherwise I have almost perfect “stats” and 12 APs, but I don’t think any of this is competitive enough. Are super prestigious and impressive awards/ECs important for T20 admission? I don’t mean this as a “chance me” I just want to know how the admissions process goes. Thank you so much for reading and any responses are appreciated!

Many people are in Honors Society or clubs that are offered nation wide. A lot of people say this but passion project goes a long way whatever you have passion is follow that and it doesn’t have to earn 100 grand or any money but something that would show you have dedication
