I'm a junior, but by the time I apply I will have 3000+ service hours from volunteering at 3 different places
8hrs/week +leadership, 4yrs
5hrs/week +leadership, 4yrs
8hrs/week, 2yrs
Do these activities help? 2/3 are related to my major and just in the first two I have about 800 regular people participating or served. Wondering if I should spend my last two years doing these or if I should spend time elsewhere? I like volunteering but I'm not sure if colleges will see this as a worthwhile "spike" or not.
Yeah, but make sure to not exaggerate your volunteer hours, just doing service isn't enough. You need to also prove that you are the best in whatever you're trying to do. Even if 3000+ hours of service looks impressive, it won't be enough for any T20's, they want more extracurriculars than just volunteering/service.

Thank you! I've tried to ensure that all the volunteering I do is high impact and really makes a difference, not just for hours. I also play a sport that I am nationally ranked in (top 100 in the US) and play the piano competitively with several regional/state awards (like top 10%). Would this be enough?
