Dual enrollment vs Honors on Common App
Answered

If I took classes that are both dual enrollment and honors, which one should I pick on the common app? Example, Precalculus and Calc 3. My transcript says honors already but not dual enrollment. I’m assuming I should list honors but not sure if the AO views one more favorably. Any advice is appreciated.

I have taken two dual enrollment courses as well. Basically, the college acknowledges your high GPA, and offers you a spot to take the honors courses, even as a DE student. Very few colleges offer this, and it is a great honor. You can list the course as either dual enrollment or honors (or both!), but then use the Additional Information section of the Common App to elaborate the situation further. Hope that helps!

Hello!

That's very interesting- I have never heard of a class being DE and honors at the same time. I wonder why they put it on your transcript as honors, since DE means it's college level. I would think you would want it called DE to show that you took college level classes. That would probably be viewed more favorably than honors. However, you want your application to match your transcript, so you will have to stick with honors.
