Admissions Advice

Should I talk about my potential major in my personal statement?

Hi all, I've been working on my personal statement for college apps and I'm getting near to submitting my essay. But I've heard different things on whether or not I should link my essay to what I'm looking to study (film/video production).

My essay is about being in scouting, and I think it would be a little difficult to link my study to the essay, but it's definitely possible. I'm just wondering whether or not mentioning my major will affect my chances of getting in.

So it is not that you have to a lot of students don't even know what major they will get into but if you are really interested in this major and this major takes a part of your life like say that you loved robotics and you made different projects in robotics that is why you want to major on that if that is your case so write about it but if not you don't have to

I think you can insinuate your major, but giving a clear link to scouting. As long as there is a clear connection and flaws of thoughts, I do not think that it will affect your admission chances. You got this!
