Awards and Honors?? How do they affect your chances?
Answered

Hi! I am currently applying and was wondering how greatly does it impact admissions to have national-level awards and honors. I have good grades and test scores but am lacking in the awards section to get myself into an elite school. How much do colleges weigh these things? Thanks!

Hey! I'm not an admission officer, but I'm almost 100% it does have some impact in your chances if you're applying to an elite school. For example, most of MIT's students have at least one international level awards/honor.

Even so, honors and awards are just a piece of your whole application! You still have your personal statement, essays that universities ask for, and more. So, if you show admission officers you're good, hardworking, etc. I'm sure it'll make the lack of honors less "bad"!

I hope I could help you! Good luck on your application!!
