Admissions Advice

How can I improve my college application with a low GPA or no recommendation letters?

So I have a 2.7 GPA and may not have recommendation letters from the teachers or the school counselor because apparently, I'm not the favorite one also there is no school counselor in my school. Are there any ways to improve my college application? I want to join in psychology major, so what exactly kind of extracurriculars i should join?

- Does working as a cashier even count?

- Does cooking soup for patients as a volunteer in a mental hospital count?

- Does teaching English to a peer with family poor financial condition count?

- Does teaching math or English for kids that have mental disability count?

- Does helping mentally disabled kids to become better or able to fit in society count?

Your volunteer work, especially in mental health and teaching, definitely counts and is super relevant for a psychology major. Highlight those experiences in your application. Focus on what you’ve learned and how it connects to your interest in psychology.

All of those are great extracurriculars. The volunteer stuff is especially good.
