Best teacher for a rec letter?

So I have a good friend and I promised I would help with the process and he was stressing over the fact that he had to have a humanities rec letter. As a STEM bound student would a (Regular non AP non Honors) Spanish teacher be okay or should it be someone who taught a more practical class such as English or an AP teacher?

It matters how good of a letter you think you could get out of your core subject teachers. A letter of rec from a core teacher would look much much better than one from a Spanish teacher, but if you think your Spanish teacher would write a significantly better letter than your English one you might want to go with Spanish. However, even if you might've not been your English teacher's class pet, if they generally liked you and you were a good student their letter of rec will probably carry more weight than the Spanish one.
