Can you self study AP drawing?
Answered

I am homeschooled but I have taken ap exams at my local public highschool before. I would really like to take AP drawing. I am pretty good at art and have taken art classes at my local art museum so I think I have the experience necessary. But I cannot find any information on how to submit a portfolio without a teacher. Do you have to go through a teacher or is there an alternative way to submit? If so, where could I find information on that process?

Have you found the answer yet? I am going through the same process right now as I really want to take AP Art and Design along with my other courses, but I am not sure if that is possible as a homeschooler.

Yes. If you contact the public school you would normally take AP exams at, they should be able to submit your portfolio. Just send an email to the AP coordinator. Good luck!

Hi there! It looks like you need to have a teacher to submit a portfolio. Perhaps you could talk to the art teacher at your local public high school? Maybe they would be willing to meet with you every now and then and be your teacher, even if you're homeschooled.

You could also contact the College Board directly, as they would be more knowledgeable:

Hope this helps, and good luck!
