What is the difference between competition for EECS at Berkeley and other engineering majors?
Answered

Planning to apply for Engineering Physics but have heard about competetiveness of EECS. Am I compared to EECS people or is it major specific.

Berkeley does admit engineering students by their major (as do all the UC schools). What this means for you is the competitiveness of EECS shouldn't affect you when you apply. However, you do need to keep in mind that engineering majors at Berkeley are generally going to be pretty competitive, more so than just getting into the school in general. While that shouldn't discourage you applying in any way, it is a good thing to remember when setting expectations for yourself.

Hope that helps answer your question but feel free to reach out if you have more!
