Hey there! I am personally not very involved in the theatre department, but I have had many close friends who have been heavily involved in theatre over the years. As far as I know, Yale and UCLA have especially nice and professional theatre departments. Almost all my theatre friends wanted to get into these two colleges specifically for theatre. This may just be a reflection of our unique drama culture at our school, but I hope this is helpful!

If you're looking for a broad list of programs, I would go through some aggregator sites like these:

https://www.onstageblog.com/editorals/2019/11/3/the-top-30-college-musical-theatre-programs-for-2019-2020

https://www.onstageblog.com/onstage-blog-news/2018/8/30/the-top-25-bfa-musical-theatre-programs-for-2018-19

For musical theatre specifically (not theatre in general), if you're looking for universities that are also academically prestigious (I think you asked about Columbia in another question?), I'd specifically point to the University of Michigan and Carnegie Mellon.
