Should I write an essay if it is optional?
Answered

I am applying for University of Houston and it says that the essay is optional. Should I bother writing it or would it significantly boost my chances?

Ultimately if an essay is optional it is, well, optional. If you have the time to write it and/or if you think it can add another dimension to your application (or provide more depth to something you already said), then I'd say go for it. However, if you think you've already said all you need to say and/or you need the time for other applications, then you're probably safe to not write it. Hope this helps, and good luck with your applications!

Yes, you should absolutely write any optional essays!

In my opinion, you should definitley write it. It may set you apart from others who chose not to write it, making you more likely to be accepted.

If it says optional it really means mandatory so just write it unless you are Bill Gates' kid or know a dean at the school
