How to log hours on the common app for a performance EC?
Answered

I received 4 awards for music performance in a graded music performance in my state. On the Common App should I log just the hours I actually spent at the performance or do I also log the time I spent preparing the pieces that I played?

So assuming you will use that activity as an extracurricular (EC) and not as an Honor/Award you should log all time spent in relation to that activity (excluding travel unless you travel with the group). When you practice you are participating in your extracurricular so thus it should be included in your hours.

Hope this helps and feel free to comment if you’s like clarification as I’d be more than happy to help!

I think it would be all the hours you spent practicing and preparing.
