Are there scholarships as a High School Junior?
Answered

I'm currently a Junior, are there any scholarship opportunities for Juniors or should you mainly wait for Senior year and then look?

Hi! I'm a junior too right now, and it never hurts to look. However, from what I have seen, the bulk of scholarships are for seniors. If you find any good ones for juniors, let me know!!

The biggest scholarship opportunity in your junior year would be through the PSAT. In your junior year you are eligible to take the PSAT/NMSQT, which stands for the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. If you do really well on the PSAT, you can earn National Merit Scholarships.

Other than that, there are literally thousands of scholarships out there for high school students, especially juniors and seniors. This link https://www.unigo.com/scholarships/high-school-students/scholarships-for-high-school-juniors lists a whopping 24,545. While that might seem daunting to work through, there are hundreds of websites that you can sign up for which will ask you to fill out some background info and then recommend scholarships to you based on it. If you google "scholarship websites" you can find plenty to get you started, but a few that I have used or heard good things about include:

Bold.org

Scholarships.com

Scholarshippoints.com

Cappex.com

Scholarships.collegeboard.org

Fastweb.com

Some of these, like Niche.com, will compile scholarships from lots of other websites.

It might be best to pick two or three websites and fill out all your information on those first. You can see what they have to offer and look at some of the scholarships, and then go back later and try other websites if you have time. I hope this helps and doesn't overwhelm you!

Hi, I'm also a Junior and I have found SO MANY! Every opportunity is different depending on what you're involved in and where you're interested in going but there are plenty of scholarships available to Juniors in High school who look for them! Talking to your HS counselor if you have one and asking them to keep an eye out as well as asking the leaders of any programs your involved in (Ex: JROTC, scouting, music programs, speech & debate) is a great place to start. Juniors can also receive Athletic Scholarship offers so reaching out early to College coaches can also be beneficial.

~~~~~ However, the 100% easiest place to find scholarships for Juniors is by reading! There are many scholarship books out there, but the one I've found most helpful is this massive one I found called "The Ultimate Scholarship Book 2020" by Gen and Kelly Tanabe. Its thicccc but there are literally scholarships that you'll never find online you can earn for writing about what superhero you'd want to be. Just do some research and I grantee you'll find a fistful of cash. Best of luck :)
Yes, there are many scholarship programs for Juniors.
There are even scholarship programs specifically for juniors only such as:
The Hamilton Award
The Siemen's Competition scholarship
The Coolidge Scholarship.
Junior year is a great time to get ahead of the game, as many big decisions are made in the eleventh grade - ones that will have a large impact on the next five years and beyond.
