A question about an award application.
Answered

So in an essay for a competitive award that I wrote I mentioned being part of a specific ethnic group. As in “as a member of an ethnic group that was...”. Do I need to mention the specific ethnic group if it is abundantly clear what group it was? My required rec-letter is highly likely to make it explicit as it is from a program supervisor that is exclusive to my ethnic group as in an imam from a mosque.

I think for award applications, it is always good to be specific. Being specific won’t hurt your chances if included.
