Yes, it is paid work! position would be waitress, unless you work in the kitchen then escuelerie or chef, according to what it is you do

So presuming you are on the common app the description would be something like I am employed as a xyz at a local restaurant. I have to do insert job responsibilities.

And as unaloon said it is an EC as you are still doing the workload.
