On an optional supplement to a fairly prestigious school, I accidentally submitted the wrong draft. The only difference is one or two typos that weren't corrected until the final draft. The submission deadline has passed, and obviously I can't resubmit. The CommonApp shows it as submitted, but not as reviewed by the college. I know it probably won't work, but would it actively hurt my chances to email them (the email under contact us on the admissions section of their website) and ask if there's a way to correct the error?
Hi there, if the difference was one or two typos, I wouldn't worry about it (the admissions committee may not even notice, as they have to review applications quickly). Emailing the admissions office will only draw more attention to the fact that there were typos.
Try not to worry too much, and best of luck!
I don't think it will hurt your chances. Admissions offices know that mistakes like that happen. Now, it is certainly possible that they won't let you resubmit it, but I think it is worth asking.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Submitting the wrong draft of an optional supplement to a prestigious school is concerning. However, mistakes happen, and admission officers understand. Contact the admissions office to explain, be professional and honest. Remember, one small mistake is unlikely to affect your chances.
