I’ve passed all the ABRSM piano exams. Will that only help me get into a music college or will it also work in normal colleges?

Hello there!! The certifications offered by ABRSM are very significant and are widely recognized. ABRSM is prestigious and it isn't easy to pass their exams from what I have heard. Their certifications show your hard work and dedication to your passion for music. They will help you a lot to improve your chances for all colleges.

Congrats! Since those exams are of such high standards, you can count them as an extracurricular. I believe it is a 2a, which is strong. Obviously, it is not as useful as if you were applying to a music college, but it is still a very noteworthy achievement for your application.

Do you think a grade 8 level music theory exam would be put under the activities or honors section of the common app?

I'm not entirely sure what that is, since I do not play the piano, but if it is a challenging music exam, then I'm sure it could help in other colleges too. It will show that you are also a talented musician on top of your academic work, as well as being accomplished and a hard worker.

Why do you people who are into passing the abrsm grades bother with it? Is your goal to be an associate of abrsm dinosaur game and then what purpose would that be for exactly? It seems like a waste of time and money from an outside perspective.
