Why This College Essay

A personal statement is optional for all undergraduate programs.

If you are applying to the following programs, you must submit a personal statement now.

- M.A. English, Religion, and Near Eastern Archaeology
- Master‘s in Divinity
- Master‘s Theological Studies
- The School of Education has currently waived personal statements.

Your Personal Statement should:

- Describe your achievements
- Describe your academic goals
- Explain why you have chosen La Sierra University

Honors College Short Response

For your application essay we want you to tell us about yourself. We want you to look both forward and back. As you tell us about yourself, discuss why you want to be in Honors, and describe where you hope your Honors education will take you. Also, Discuss influences that have shaped you as a student. Then, write about a metaphor you think is useful for understanding your experience as a student and your sense of identity. Explore the potential of a metaphor to be either helpful and/or harmful when thinking about identity, what has brought you to this point, along with where you hope to go. Your response should be 300-500 words.
